Lars Hofman on HOFF’s approach:

Everything from other sectors is integrated into a ship, making it very diverse and exciting to work on. A common recurring problem within maritime engineering is that there are many specialists who are very good at what they do, but they don’t see their role in the bigger picture. Because we start with the bigger picture in mind, we can ultimately dive deeply into it. We are the all-encompassing integrator of the ship. Our specialty is basic engineering because everything has to come together in that phase. Our entire approach is designed around efficiency. What is your goal in assigning this project to us? Based on that, we compile a set of requirements that we discuss with the customer to ensure we are aligned. We then start the engineering and ensure ongoing monitoring together with the customer or other involved parties to ensure we are still on schedule, not only in terms of time but especially in terms of content. By continuously communicating openly about this with progress meetings, but also through progress reports, we ensure that everyone is informed and takes the actions expected of each other. We also ensure that other involved parties who do their own part of the engineering connect with us and we ensure that we move straight towards the end goal, where all stakeholders involved are satisfied. Through years of experience with complex projects, we came to this logical approach. This is certainly not obvious in our sector, but it does make a difference!
